Job Description

£11.44 per hour

Shifts range from 9am – 3pm or 9am – 5pm

Will include weekend working

Contract is for 16 Hours

Summary

To assist in the delivery of person-centred resident care, working as a team to achieve the required standards, whilst maintaining dignity and respect for all residents.

Key Tasks

· Ensure all deliveries are checked and signed for.

· Maintain good order and cleanliness at all times within the home. Follow and maintain a daily weekly and monthly routine in conjunction with the manager.

· Key tasks include cleaning all areas of the home including bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas (Dining rooms, bathrooms, lounge and corridors).

· General duties include some laundry work, stripping and making beds, vacuuming, mopping, carpet shampooing dusting, tidying, decluttering, cleaning or bathrooms, cleaning of windows, emptying bins and other cleaning duties as required.

· Complete routine tasks/checks within the required timescales, including but not limited to weekly window checks, monthly mattress checks.

· Ensure the correct use of any equipment and machinery.

· Support Residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g., physical, emotional and spiritual).

· Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring Residents retain their comfort and dignity.

· Report on the wellbeing of Residents as well as any changes to resident’s needs.

· Carry out regular checks at intervals determined by Senior Staff Members and the management team.

· Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved.

· Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents ‘ personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Residents.

· Ensure the safety of the resident personal belongings

· Maintain good order and cleanliness at all times within the home.

· In the absence of kitchen, cleaning or laundry staff, you are to carry out any role as requested by the Manager to ensure the smooth running of the home for the benefit of the residents.

Management

· Be aware of and work within the scope of the Care Act, particularly in regards to safeguarding, ensuring any safeguarding concerns are reported to the Registered Manager immediately.

· Work within Infection Control guidelines

· Be aware of responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act as it relates to your sphere of work, ensuring accident / incident forms are completed for any accidents / incident you or the service experience / encounter.

· To be aware of and adhere to Belmont View’s / Graceland’s Polices & Procedures.

· Ensure you are aware of the Code of Conduct for staff and adhere to it.

· Ensure you are familiar with the Fire Procedure and Precautions.

· Be aware of the C.O.S.H.H regulations.

· Report immediately to the Registered Care Manager or Deputy Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness that affects your ability to complete the shifts allocated to you.

· Report immediately to the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager, or Person in Charge, of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another.

· Report to the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.

· Pay maximum attention to security at all times. Where appropriate, ensure the security of the home.

Job Requirements

· Ensure that you wear full uniform with no adoptions and that the correct PPE is used at the correct times for the required tasks.

· To report to the Manager any staffing problems that gives you cause for concern about their ability to work or performance.

· Take all possible steps to ensure the safety and welfare of the staff at all times.

· Ensure that relatives wishing to pay fees or discuss the care of a resident are directed to the Manager.

· Attend support meetings/sessions such as team meetings, supervisions and appraisals when you are invited.

· Ensure that all relevant information and instructions are reported to the Manager and recorded in the care plan.

· Complete induction training and ensure all mandatory refresher training is completed.

· Ensure you follow the procedure regarding meals and meal breaks.

· Ensure that cleaning products and materials are stored away safely.

· Take all possible steps to ensure the safety and welfare of the staff at all times.

· Submit to the Manager requests for repair or renewals.

· Ensure that relatives wishing to pay fees or discuss the care of a resident are directed to the Manager.

· Ensure that all relevant information and instructions are reported to the Manager and recorded in the care plan.

· Report all affairs to the home Manager.

· Participate in the induction of new starters, ensuring that they feel as comfortable as possible.

Professional

· To display a high standard of professional conduct at all times.

· To maintain confidentiality of information at all times.

· Read and follow any working practices, procedures, care practices and policies set out in the home.

· Participate and show willingness in training, courses and lectures.

· To hold or to be willing to undertake NVQ Care training as well as relevant training appropriate to this position.

Communications and Working Relationships

To communicate effectively, professionally and with respect with all key stakeholders including; residents, Care, Colleagues, Management, Supporting professionals, Relatives, friends and residents’ visitors.
