The Home Care Assistant will be responsible for:

Assist Clients with all aspects of personal care including getting up, washed and dressed, getting ready for bed, baths and showers, going to the toilet, hair and nail care, make-up, shaving, oral care, support to take medication, catheter care, help with meal preparation including eating and drinking.

Support and assist people who use our service to participate in daily activities of their choice such as companionship on social activities and outings, crafts, reading and writing, shopping, collecting prescriptions, collecting pensions and benefits and paying bills.

Assist with light housework duties including laundry and ironing, hoovering, cleaning dishes, making beds etc.

Work in accordance with the policies and procedures of Care 24-7, and complying with legal requirements e.g., CQC & Health and Safety at Work Act.

Complete and maintain digital client records using a mobile phone app. Ensure that the care tasks detailed on the support plan are performed to a high quality and report any concerns to Managers / Supervisors.

Build two-way relationships of trust with colleagues, professionals, people we support and their families.

Ensure a safe working environment for yourself, the Clients and your work colleagues and report any concerns immediately.

Commit to learning and developing yourself in your work and undertake any training or development programme in order to improve your personal skills.

The Home Care Assistant will have:

Ability to demonstrate a warm and friendly, compassionate approach with empathy, understanding and working in a safe manner.

Good clear communication skills and the ability to update confidential and important information.

Ability to build rapport with Clients and their wider relatives, your colleagues and other professionals.

Ability to provide support and care across personal and intimate care needs in a sensitive manner whilst ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times.

Ability to work in a confidential manner sometimes dealing with sensitive information, always protecting and respecting personal information.

Clear and effective decision-making skills ensuring the Clients safety and needs are paramount.

Accuracy and honesty reporting any concerns in line with company policy to your Line Manager.

Applicants must have or obtain an enhanced Adult and Child DBS certificate.

Hours of work:

We offer a rotating 2-week working pattern, applicants must be flexible to work alternate weekends OR 1 day every weekend.

Home visits are delivered between 7am and 11pm and we are flexible to start and finish times with in these hours.

Night services are delivered between 9pm and 8am with flexibility on start and finish times.
